Pete Dye – Golf Architect Extraordinaire

Golf Course Pro John MlynarskiThe legendary Pete Dye, is a golfer turned golf architect as he fell in love with more than just the game. Although he was a champion golfer, Dye’s interest was really in the design and aesthetics of the course itself. He is a legend in the field of golf course design and construction throughout the expanding world of golf and has established a reputation for unique, environmentally friendly, and renowned, resort and public golf courses.

Golf Course in the FallInnovative and deeply inspired by his 1963 visit to Scotland, Dye has over 100 courses to his name, many of which have hosted numerous PGA TOUR and LPGA events. Some of his more notable courses include River Course at Black Wolf Run, Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, and Ocean Course at Kiawah Island. Now in his 80’s Dye continues to deliver to golfers some of the most challenging courses in the world.

Built in 1971, the Harbourtowne golf course is an 18-hole, Par 70 course on theDCP_1583 Chesapeake Bay waterfront. Harboutowne’s course is not unlike other Dye courses in that it incorporates some of the elements which are so characteristic of Dye. Trademark elements include high grass, deep bunkers, walls built of railroad ties and carefully constructed rough. The first nine holes are fairly wide open with bordering out of bounds residences, some water hazards and tall grass, while the back 9 are rather tight and tree-lined. Whether a rookie or golf pro, this course is sure to provide a fun yet challenging round of golf.

There’s still time to take advantage of Harbourtowne’s winter golf rate and experience Dye’s work firsthand. From now until 4/21/13, purchase an off season golf package for $199.98 per person for 2 nights, 3 days in a waterfront guest room, 3 rounds of golf with cart, continental breakfast and gratuity each morning. Visit the website for more information.

Chances are the first thing you do upon getting engaged is begin to find a wedding venue. Selecting a venue is perhaps one of the most important decisions you will make in your planning process, one that will likely dictate how other elements will fall into place. We know you have certain expectations as the bride/groom, as do your family and guests.

You want a venue that speaks to you, where you can envision saying those two little words, but you also need a venue that meets all of your needs. As a wedding venue, we get it and we are here to help you put together the wedding of your dreams. Here are five ways Harbourtowne will make your wedding sheer perfection.

  1. Some venues have it. Some don’t – Items like décor and lighting you can change, others like a great view and the right atmosphere you cannot. Located in historic St. Michaels, Maryland, Harbourtowne is a waterfront venue with scenic views unlike any other. And, all guests are accommodated in waterfront guest rooms.
  2. Forever and always YOUR special day – Unlike many other venues, Harbourtowne has a strict policy of only one wedding per day. Your day is your day.
  3. Our wedding coordinator is your wedding coordinator – You have enough to worry about. Let us worry about the details. Our on-site wedding planner will guide you through the entire process, making it as stress-free as possible.
  4. No need to complicate things — With your ceremony and reception all in one location, your guests and your wedding will transition smoothly from one event to the next.
  5. Full access to all we have to offer — While you’re here, enjoy our Pete Dye golf course, pool, tennis courts, and two-full service restaurants and bar. Spend the entire wedding weekend with us.

Happy Planning!
